After 27 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reclaimed power in New Delhi, with Rekha Gupta set to become the new Chief Minister. The decision was made during the BJP legislative parliamentary party meeting held last evening, where Gupta’s name was unanimously proposed. Om Prakash Dhankhad was appointed as the observer for the meeting.

Rekha Gupta’s swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for this afternoon at Ramlila Maidan. She was elected from the Shalimar Bagh constituency. In this year’s Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP secured a clear majority, winning 48 out of 70 seats.

Gupta was among several contenders for the Chief Minister position, including Pravesh Verma, Shikha Rai, Vijender Gupta, Ashish Sood, and Satish Upadhyay.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has expressed his full support for the new Chief Minister and the government, emphasizing the importance of Delhi’s development and prosperity.
