Agency, Doha | June 24 — Iran launched a missile attack on a U.S. military base located near Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Monday. However, Qatari defense systems successfully intercepted the missiles in time, and no human casualties have been reported.
Qatar’s government spokesperson and advisor to the Prime Minister, Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, issued a statement condemning the incident as a serious violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, airspace, and international law. He expressed deep concern, warning that such attacks could negatively impact regional stability, and urged Iran to return to peaceful dialogue.
According to Al-Ansari, all necessary security protocols were implemented at the Al Udeid air base, and military personnel and staff were safely evacuated. No injuries or fatalities were confirmed in the aftermath of the attack.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for the attack, referring to the operation as the “Victory of Salutation.” The IRGC stated that American military bases in Iraq and Qatar were targeted. According to the group, Al Udeid Air Base is considered a major hub for the U.S. Air Force in West Asia.
Iran reiterated that it reserves the right to respond to any interference in its national interests, territorial integrity, or security. The missile strike is believed to be a retaliation against U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities conducted last Saturday.
Following the attack, several Gulf nations took precautionary measures by temporarily closing their airspace. Qatar and the United Arab Emirates had already suspended their air routes prior to the strike, while Bahrain and Kuwait announced partial airspace closures on Monday.
Al Udeid Air Base serves as a key strategic installation for U.S. and allied forces in the Middle East, with thousands of American troops stationed there.
