By Rajesh Singh | Mahottari, July 17 — Nepal’s Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Sharad Singh Bhandari, has emphasized the vital role of the younger generation in strengthening the historic, religious, and cultural ties between Nepal and India.

Speaking at an “Honour and Award Distribution Program” organized by the Nepal-India Friendship Association, Madhesh Province, in Jaleshwar, Minister Bhandari stated, “Our historical friendship dates back to the era of Ram and Sita and still remains alive today. Nepal’s territory will never be allowed to be used against India.”

The event also included an inter-school essay competition on the theme “Nepal–India Relations: Past, Present, and Future” with participation from schools across Dhanusha and Mahottari districts. A total of 42 students who secured first, second, and third positions were awarded bicycles and certificates for their achievements.

According to the organizers, the main objective of the program was to foster friendship between the two countries, instill a sense of cross-border brotherhood in the new generation, and promote student engagement in education and creative expression.

The event was chaired by Madhesh Province President of the Nepal-India Friendship Association, Mr. Luv Raja Singh. The chief guest was Loktantrik Samajwadi Party’s national president and federal lawmaker Mr. Mahantha Thakur. Other notable guests included Madhesh Province’s Minister for Education and Culture Ms. Rani Kumari Tiwari, Provincial Assembly Member Mr. Jainul Rain, Counselor of the Indian Consulate in Birgunj Mr. D.S. Meena, Mayor of Jaleshwar Municipality Mr. Suresh Sah Sonar, Chief District Officer Mr. Narayan Prasad Rishal, along with leaders of various political parties, local intellectuals, educators, and social activists.
